Charles Warren Stoddard, poet, novelist, journalist, and essayist, though he spent most of his working life in California, had also many ties to Hawaiʻi and the Pacific. The papers collected here include Stoddard's diaries of his Hawaiʻi years ( called the "Bungalow series"), incoming and outgoing correspondence, copies of Stoddard materials housed in other collections, and biographical notes. Included are letters to and from Liliʻuokalani and William Dean Howell. Some materials relate to the publication of Stoddard's biography by Roger Austen, edited by John W. Crowley. Includes typescript text of talk by Crowley delivered to American Studies Association 1989 with title: Charles Warren Stoddard: Locating desire.
